Ever had an argument? Of course you have! Whether you love arguing or try to avoid conflict at all costs, we all of us get dragged into an argument once in a while.

And what we all want to know is - what is going on when some other person is so misguided as to disagree with us? and does it matter? and why do we get dragged in against our will? and why won't they listen?

Perhaps some of what I discovered could help you. I am a psychologist. I set out to prove that women and men argue as equals. I found that they don't. And I also found why not.

This web site is about the psychology of argument. More especially, it is about how the meaning of argument changes depending on who you are and whether the other person is a woman or a man. I look at how we interpret all those everyday discussions, debates, disagreements we all get involved in.

Central to their meaning is gender.
